Etiquette on the net is somewhat nebulous - we are dealing with varying cultures and
the ambiguities of virtual reality.
It is always a good idea to have some
reminders in front of us. As moderators, we feel responsible that everyone on this
list should feel comfortable here to do what the list is about - share our
love and passion for the Iberian horse.
We have a polite group of people. Let's always be guided by
the thought that someone else may be having a bad or rugged day and
may be coming to the list to just have some relaxation, some
meaningful exchange, and enjoyment and an Iberian horse buzz. Nobody
needs to walk on eggs. Just imagine you are talking to others the way
you like to interact with your horse. That should work for us! (Want a
carrot? Good boy!)

Religion, sex and politics
From Jane-Marie - couldn't be said better!
I was always told that religion, sex and politics don't belong in
polite company. As I result, I grew up to be a very sensual person who
is politically active and is a religion professor. So, just goes to
show what drives society for me. HOWEVER, here, we want to respect
that people have great differences and a common love--Iberian horses.
While I would say that a site dedicated to creativity is bound to have
people's spiritual natures coming into it, none of us (me included)
are allowed to proselytize. Josephine and I have spoken about this and
we feel that as adults on this list, we can all tell the difference
between sharing sources of deep meaning and proselytizing.
As far as
politics go, I'd like to say that I am a political activist in the US.
But I think that politics and horses don't mix on a site like this. I
have met some wonderful people on these kinds of lists who share my
love of horses and I frankly don't gvie a rat's hoo-ha what their
politics are.
As politically active as I am, I cherish a politics
neutral zone. Our horses make us honest and ethical and this will make
us all better people. Better people are better citizens. As much as I
would love the soap box to "speak truth to power" here, I feel that
would be wrong. Lucio doesn't need that. He is truly politically
blind, though I do suspect he hates fascists and thugs as much as the
we all do. So, as far as I am concerned, let's keep politics out of
this site. As for sex, oh, what can I say? We are talking about horses.
In areas not covered here, we're trusting your comportment
