Andalusian Horse
Prices

Andalusian Horse Prices - Perfect Price, Realistic Price

I think about price on these two levels - for every individual buying an Andalusian Horse there's a perfect price and a realistic price.

The Perfect Price of a Purebred Spanish horse is easier to sum up - it's the price paid by a willing buyer to a willing seller for a horse with no hidden faults or vices.

The Realistic Price takes a number of factors into account. Andalusian Horse Prices are among those flexible parameters that relate to your perfect horse. They are also part of a reality-checks system.

Andalusian Horse Prices - Putting a Figure to it.

PRICE GUIDELINES

Putting a price to a Purebred Spanish horse from Spain is a bit like saying a Rubik's cube is only red. A horse - with regard to age and training particularly - is not static. As you start adding factors, the price reflects it accordingly.

I'm not claiming that this is the absolute set of prices, but I'd like to be able to at least give you an idea of what's happening in the current Andalusian Horse market in Spain.

Think of it as an '80-20' principle, guidelines that generally will apply to a majority of horses.

If anyone in the Andalusian Horse world feels they can add to this, please contact us. Help us in presenting a realistic picture of Andalusian Horse prices - especially Pura Raza Española horses - to others.

Andalusian Horse Prices are linked to age, and to level of training; and can be impacted by colour.

COLOR
Grey horses are the classic Pura Raza Española colour, and there is a wide choice available. Many Spaniards prefer the grey P R E stallions above any other colour.

Bay Andalusian horses from good studs can cost more highly. Behaviour, temperament, schooling, all count, and bloodlines matter. We will be talking about bloodlines soon on the website.

Truly black Andalusians are not common. A good black Andalusian stallion, with the same caveats as above, will cost accordingly.

The increasing presence of Chestnut, dun and other striking colour variants among Purebred Spanish Horses has opened up the market here. Rarity, as in any other demand/supply situation, impacts the price of Andalusian horses of these coats.

Andalusian Horse colours are covered in more detail here.

AGE and TRAINING
2-3 year old, off the country - unhandled to halter-broken, or basic training.
€8 000 - €18 000 and upwards.
Because of Spain's program to help small breeders, there are many Andalusian horses in small studs, that come from good bloodlines.

3-4 year old, with basic training - backed, and going forward. €15 000 - €24 000 and upwards

Ridden in Dressage and High school
€24 000 - €42 000 and upwards.

Andalusian Horse Prices - Reality Checks

Costs to consider when buying an Andalusian Horse. All of these are the same, regardless of the initial price.

Before
Be prepared to travel to find your Andalusian Horse. The internet is of help – but it’s still a tool.
If you’re coming to Spain to find a Purebred Spanish Horse, or another horse in the wider range of Andalusian Horses, Andalusia is a great place to take a holiday break.

During:
If you’re away from home, there’s travel and accommodation costs. You’ll probably want a Veterinary check on an Andalusian Horse you’re serious about buying, and in some cases these are obligatory.

After
You’ll need to get the horse home. Budget for transport – local or international, accompanied if necessary; and quarantine if applicable.
