Breed Andalusian Horses

Breed Andalusian horses -

if you can dream it, you can do it - Sara Pell did.

Sara Pell was born in Wales, in the quintessential Welsh city of Cardiff. Growing up as a pony-mad youngster, she had her first pony at 13 years old, and comments: Wow - did I learn how to ride with her - little horror!

The seeds of her intent to own and breed Andalusian horses were planted in the mid-eighties as she sat listening to the story of how Mary McBryde, founder member of the BAPSH UK, had brought the first Pure Spanish Horses to the UK. A farm in Wiltshire was Mary's starting place, and this is where she began the quest to breed Andalusian horses that in turn inspired Sara.

In 1991, Sara met her husband, Duncan, in the rural Wye Valley. An original, unusual - and totally unexpected - wedding gift came from her father, the late Thomas Bamford.

The Wedding Gift

Danes Bienvenida, a beautifully bred Carthusian mare, the beginning of Sara's dream-stud, who immediately began a showing career that exceeded any dreams.

Due to company mergers, Duncan and Sara moved from Wales to Holland. Then by choice they decided to take their two daughters and raise them in the south west of France and to pursue their intention to breed andalusian horses.

Here, on 30ha, in the beautiful Tarn et Garonne, the Yeguada Pell was established - with a simple intent: to breed Andalusians to the highest standards of beauty and movement.

They're now running 24 horses in total

        • 8 males
        • 9 brood mares, 7 in foal - by 6 different stallions
        • 2 two-year olds
        • 2 yearlings
        • 3 babies

The stud is producing greys, bays, blacks and chestnut andalusians, with great bloodlines. They are exporting across Europe and into America

Yeguada Pell continues to breed Andalusian horses that are making their mark in the show rings and in the dressage arenas. Danes Bienvenida's offspring have continued her path of triumph.
