Cowboy in spanish is male - and that is a grammatical fact, not a case of discrimination. He is a vaquero. A cowgirl is then a vaquera.
The Spanish word for saddle - silla - is female. So strictly speaking, and obeying the rules
of grammar, a cowboy saddle is a silla vaquera, whether the one riding in it is male or female.
Over the years, though, (and with echoes from the John Wayne movies!), vaquero has been transliterated into the English language,
and vaquero saddle is a generally accepted term.
